Retired persons benefit from 50% REDUCTION on the railway journey according to the law no. 147/2000.
Law no 147/2000 regarding the reductions granted to the retired persons in domestic traffic, with subsequent amendments and additions, provides for the retired persons within the public pension system as well as for the retired persons from the other social insurance systems the granting of 6 simple trips, every year, with 50 % reduction of the rate established for railway trips by regio or interregio trains on the 2nd class.
The spouse shall also be granted these facilities for railway transport, as appropriate, while observing the overall number of trips the respective holder is entitled to. The spouse may travel by himself/herself or together with the respective holder.
In case he/she travels by himself/herself, when checking the tickets he/she shall provide the identity card and the special travel coupon of the respective holder. The journey holder will present the identity card and its own special travel coupon granted on the basis of Law no. 147/2000.
The journey by rail is made with the ticket obtained on the basis of the coupon which is detached from the special travel coupon by the transport operator’s personnel and the payment of 50% of the tariff for the transport of the regio, interregio, 2nd class, as the case.
The special coupon consists of a special coupon, six detachable coupons and six detachable attachments coupons, corresponding to six simple trips.
The attachment coupons are only used for railway transport in the event of a change in the contract of carriage.
Journeys at 1-st class at sleeping/berth car or on a route other than the one written on the special travel coupon can only be made with the full payment of the tariff differences.
Intercity train travel, in 1st class, in the sleeper/berth carriage can only be done with full payment of the fare differences.
Loss or damage of the special travel coupon granted under Law no. 147/2000, makes it impossible to perform journeys with discount. Special travel coupons with erasures, corrections or illegible printouts will not be accepted for carriage.
Special coupons issued under Law no. 147/2000 are issued and distributed through the care of the National Pensions House or through the territorial pension houses.
